Cytology of Nodal Marginal Zone Lymphoma with Mott Cells

Cytological findings from a lymph node aspirate in nodal marginal zone lymphoma: monomorphic lymphoid cells and numerous Mott cells.

Cervical lymph node. Male, 77 years old. Diagnosis based on histology and IHC: nodal marginal zone lymphoma. Cytologically, we observe a rather monomorphic population of small lymphoid cells with pleomorphic nuclei, clumpy chromatin, and medium-sized, weakly basophilic cytoplasm with lymphoglandular bodies. The case is notable for a large number of Mott cells. 👉 Images and description kindly provided by Clinical Laboratory Diagnostics Physician, Pathologist, member of the FLM Hematology Committee Elena Belyakova, Department of Molecular Morphology, E.E.
