🐍 A finding under the microscope!
During duodenal intubation of a patient from the gastroenterology department, we managed to detect Opisthorchis — the causative agent of opisthorchiasis.
Our hospital is one of the few where this diagnostic procedure is still performed.
We carefully laid out the parasite on a microscope slide: its size is clearly visible even to the naked eye. Under the microscope, all anatomical details can be examined — a true “portrait” of the pathogen!
Opisthorchiasis remains an endemic disease for the Omsk region, so timely diagnosis and prevention are still extremely important.
