Granulocyte Differentiation: From Promyelocyte to Mature Forms

Features of granulocytopoiesis: why promyelocytes do not differentiate by cell lines and at what stage of granulocyte maturation specific granules appear.

At the promyelocyte stage, it is not yet possible to distinguish between a basophil, neutrophil, and eosinophil, as the granules in the cytoplasm at this stage are non-specific (azurophilic).

At the myelocyte stage, specific granules characteristic of a certain type of leukocyte begin to appear:

For neutrophils — neutrophilic granules. For eosinophils — eosinophilic granules. For basophils — basophilic granules.
