Bone Marrow Dynamics in Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia

A case of acute lymphoblastic leukemia: total blastosis in bone marrow aspirate and morphological picture of remission with dyserythropoiesis on prednisone.

PATIENT OF THE HEMATOLOGY DEPARTMENT, 63 years old, with ACUTE LYMPHOBLASTIC LEUKEMIA. Upon admission, BLASTOSIS in bone marrow aspirate reached 82.0% (photos 1,2,3), but after prednisone, prescribed by the hematologist, during REPEATED sternal puncture (after 2 weeks), there were no blast cells in the bone marrow aspirate. MACROPHAGES with remnants of phagocytosed material were found (photo 4), and, surrounded by erythroblasts (erythroblastic island, photo 5). ERYTHROID lineage is EXPANDED - 45.1%, with signs of dysplasia (binucleated erythroblasts, and with intercellular bridges, photo 6).
