Granulocyte Dysplasia in Myelodysplastic Syndrome

Morphology of dysplastic granulocytes in MDS: asynchronous maturation, binuclearity, hypogranularity, and differential diagnosis with monocytes.

Blood smear: dysplastic binucleated granulocyte in MDS
Blood smear: dysplastic binucleated granulocyte in MDS

Granulocyte with asynchronous development and binuclearity, with pronounced signs of dysplasia. Hypogranularity of the cytoplasm is noteworthy.

For differential diagnosis with monocytes, it is necessary to evaluate the chromatin features of myeloid cells.

The cell was found in a patient with myelodysplastic syndrome.
