Bone marrow aspirate shows moderately expanded granulocytic lineage (70%), with a predominance of mature forms (M:E ratio - 0.4).
Erythroid lineage is reduced - 6.8%, erythropoiesis is normoblastic.
The number of megakaryocytes is increased; megakaryocytes with engulfed cells (emperipolesis) are observed. Many large aggregates of platelets are present (excessive platelet shedding).
Can reactive bone marrow changes against the background of an infectious process be assumed? The patient is being examined by a hematologist.
