IMMUNOGRAM. Male, born in 1949 (70 years old). Admitted to the Department of Surgery and Transplantology. Above normal: relative and absolute counts of Activated T-lymphocytes (CD3+ HLA-DR+); and percentage of T-killers (CD3+ CD16+56+). Below normal: relative count of Activated B-lymphocytes (CD3- HLA-DR+); and relative count of Natural Killer NK-cells (CD16+56+). Interpretation of results: An increase in Activated T-lymphocytes (CD3+ HLA-DR+) is observed in generalized acute and active chronic inflammatory processes. An increase in the percentage of T-killers (CD3+ CD16+56+) indicates prolonged chronic inflammatory processes, severe course of inflammatory processes, and prolonged antigen persistence in the body. A decrease in Activated B-lymphocytes (CD3- HLA-DR+) has no independent diagnostic significance. A decrease in the relative count of Natural Killer NK-cells (CD16+56+) was noted with a high level of T-lymphocytes.
Interpreting Immunograms by Flow Cytometry
A clinical example of an immunogram using a flow cytometer: evaluating activated CD3+HLA-DR+ T-lymphocytes and NK cells in inflammatory processes.
