A 56-year-old patient with acute leukemia underwent bone marrow aspiration (for treatment monitoring). In the bone marrow aspirate, there was enhanced proliferation of erythroid cells (54.0%), blasts (1.0%). Other hematopoietic lineages were within normal limits. Disease remission was achieved. Photograph 1 shows erythrokaryocytes with intercellular bridges, and photograph 4 shows a macrophage with vacuolated cytoplasm and remnants of phagocytosed material.
