Uric Acid Crystals in Urine Sediment Microscopy

Morphology of uric acid crystals in urine sediment. Microscopic view of crystalluria with acidic urine reaction at 100x and 400x magnification.

🔬 Urine sediment microscopy. Uric acid crystals. Magnification 100x and 400x. Uric acid crystals found during microscopic examination are usually yellow, dark yellow, or brownish-yellow and have a rhomboid shape. As they grow, crystals can take on the shape of a whetstone, spindle, bar, barrel, piece of cut sugar, regular hexagonal plate, irregular hexagon, butterfly, heart, hammer, dumbbell, and other exotic forms. They can be found in healthy individuals with acidic urine.
