Cuterebrosis is myiasis in humans and animals, caused by dipterous flies of the genus Cuterebra. In cases of myiasis associated with Cuterebra spp., larvae contain a heterogeneous mixture of cells, cellular debris, and often cylindrical, spiral-tubular, and branching structures, representing fragments of the larval bronchial tree (photos 1 and 2).
