Hodgkin Lymphoma: Reed-Sternberg Cells in Cytology

A clinical case of Hodgkin lymphoma: cytology of a lymph node biopsy, Reed-Sternberg cells, neutrophilic leukocytosis, and microcytic anemia.

Female, 21 years old, enlarged painless supraclavicular lymph nodes on the left. B-symptoms for the last 3 months. Fatigue. In peripheral blood: neutrophilic leukocytosis and hypo-micro-anemia. In the cytological smear from the biopsy: Reed-Sternberg and Hodgkin cells. Morphological diagnosis is obvious, no need to wait for histology. These cells are not detected by immunophenotyping; we only obtain the accompanying lymphocytic population, predominantly T-cell.
