Reference information: ✅ LSIL (low-grade squamous intraepithelial lesion): This is mild dysplasia (CIN 1 by the old classification). It is characterized by changes in cells that are usually caused by active HPV infection. In most cases, LSIL regresses spontaneously, especially in young women with normal immunity. ✅ Koilocytic reaction: This is a specific cellular change observed in HPV infection. Koilocytes are cells with enlarged nuclei, irregular contours, and a clear zone around the nucleus (perinuclear halo). The presence of koilocytes confirms active viral infection.
