Native preparation of urine sediment: macrophages and clusters of erythrocyte detritus

🔬Macrophages in the urine of a 5-year-old boy. ⚠Description: Admitted to the intensive care unit with suspected hemolytic anemia. Upon admission and for one day thereafter, erythrocyte detritus completely covered the microscopic fields of view in the urine. After treatment began, macrophages appeared, up to 20 per high-power field, and cleared the accumulated detritus. 👉We thank Tatiana Zhuleva, an active participant of the Leukformula online school, for the description and photograph: Tatiana Zhuleva.
