Acute leukemia and intercellular adhesion.

Leukemic cells, blasts, may have changes in integrins and contribute to intercellular adhesion.

Tight junctions are formed by integral membrane proteins, which include claudins, occludins, and intercellular junction adhesion molecules.

Integrins provide a link between the cellular cytoskeleton and plasma proteins or components of the extracellular matrix, participating in intercellular adhesion through interaction with other membrane proteins.
