Stool Microscopy: Iodophilic Flora and Fungal Mycelium

Stool microscopy with Lugol's solution and methylene blue: differential diagnosis of rod-shaped bacteria, iodophilic flora, and fungal mycelium.

Anonymous question from a subscriber. Please tell me, what are these rods? Is this flora or is it mycelium (pseudomycelium) of yeast-like cells? For comparison, the photos show typical iodophilic flora (clostridia) and typical fungi. Stool, Lugol’s solution (3 photos), last photo - methylene blue, magnification 40x, a couple of photos zoomed in on a phone camera.
