Urine Sediment Microscopy: Types of Casts in Nephropathy

Urine sediment microscopy in a nephrology patient: differential diagnosis of casts, proteinuria 3 g/L, hematuria, and renal epithelial cells.

🔬 Urine sediment microscopy. Protein in urine 3 g/L. Patient from the Department of Nephrology and Hemodialysis.

✅ Microscopy of the urine sediment revealed hematuria, predominantly dysmorphic erythrocytes; leukocytes - up to 20 per HPF; renal epithelium with fatty degeneration. An abundance of various casts: red blood cell, granular, epithelial, hyaline, and waxy.
