Bone Marrow Morphology in B12-Deficiency Anemia

Morphological signs of dysgranulocytopoiesis and dyserythropoiesis in bone marrow aspirate in severe B12-deficiency anemia: a clinical case.

🩸Bone marrow with signs of

🔹Dysgranulocytopoiesis:

➖ neutrophil nuclear hypersegmentation (photos 1-4) ➖gigantism, bizarre neutrophil nuclei (photos 1, 5) ➖anisocytosis of the granulocytic lineage (photos 1-2) ➖ring forms of neutrophil nuclei (photo 6)

🔸Erythroid lineage:

➖ Presence of intercellular bridges (photo 7) ➖Anisocytosis towards macroforms (photos 1, 8) ➖ Incomplete stage of mitotic division (photo 4)

🧐A diagnosis of severe B12 deficiency anemia was made. Positive dynamics were noted against the background of ongoing vitamin B12 therapy.
