Bone Marrow Morphology in Vitamin B12 Deficiency

Bone marrow cell morphology in vitamin B12 deficiency: maturation asynchrony, megaloblastic erythropoiesis, and abnormal mitotic figures.

Microscopy of bone marrow aspirate. Vitamin B12 deficiency disrupts cell cycle coordination, leading to cells appearing in various division phases, slowed maturation, and increased apoptosis. In vitamin B12 deficiency, the normal cell division process in the bone marrow is impaired, especially for actively proliferating cells.
