Bone Marrow Plasmocyte Morphology in Multiple Myeloma

Sternal puncture findings in multiple myeloma: plasmocyte infiltration up to 74%, chromatin atypia, clasmacytosis, and rouleaux formation.

Sternal puncture of a 70-year-old patient diagnosed with multiple myeloma, with 74% plasmocytes. Many cells show more delicate, immature chromatin; clasmacytosis of the cytoplasm is also observed, along with the presence of immunoglobulin granules, occasional mitotic figures of the plasma cell lineage, and flaming plasmocytes. Rouleaux formation of erythrocytes is noted. Peripheral blood data: leukocytes - 4.93 × 109 /L, erythrocytes - 3.26 × 109 /L, hemoglobin - 87 g/L, platelets - 367 × 10^9 /L. Progression of the disease cannot be excluded.
