A clinical case of acute lymphoblastic leukemia in an elderly patient with trilineage cytopenia, vacuolated blasts, and a positive PAS reaction.
TRILINEAGE cytopenia in a 75-year-old patient. Bone marrow aspirate shows total blast infiltration. The cytoplasm is basophilic with vacuolization. Myeloperoxidase reaction in blasts is negative. PAS reaction is positive in granular form. The morphocytochemical characteristics correspond to lymphoid lineage – a picture of acute lymphoblastic leukemia.
Immunophenotyping is RECOMMENDED.
