Pseudopelger-Huët Anomaly of Neutrophils in Blood Smear

Pseudopelgerization of neutrophils as an early marker of myelodysplastic syndrome. Morphology of Pelgeroid cells in blood smear in anemia of unknown origin.

Adult-onset hyposegmentation (Pseudopelgerization)

✅ Blood smear of a 1-year-old girl, observed in the hematology department with a diagnosis of “anemia of unknown origin”. Such changes were not noted in previous blood smears.

✅ Currently, pseudopelgerization of neutrophils is considered the earliest predictor of myelodysplastic conditions. It is assumed that Pelgeroid cells may appear in peripheral blood long before the manifestation of hemoblastoses and MDS.
