Spermatorrhea: Spermatozoa Detection in Urine Sediment

Spermatorrhea in urine sediment microscopy: causes of spermatozoa presence, visual characteristics of the sample, and clinical significance in laboratory practice.

🔬 Urine Sediment Microscopy. Spermatozoa. Spermatorrhea is a condition characterized by the discharge of semen with urine. The most common causes of spermatorrhea are atony of the ejaculatory ducts after urethritis, sexual neurasthenia, or excessive sexual activity.

Urine in spermatorrhea is usually turbid, with a characteristic semen odor. Microscopic examination of urine sediment reveals a significant number of spermatozoa and spermatogenesis cells.

Spermatorrhea can be not only a medical but also a psychologically significant problem, causing discomfort to the patient. If such changes are found in the urine analysis, it is necessary to consult a urologist or andrologist to clarify the diagnosis and prescribe treatment.
