Howell-Jolly Bodies & Cabot Rings: Morphology in Blood Smear

Morphology of erythrocyte inclusions: characteristics of Howell-Jolly bodies and Cabot rings in peripheral blood smears, their causes, and clinical significance.

Howell-Jolly bodies are remnants of nuclear material (small, dark purple inclusions) observed in megaloblastic anemias, hemolysis, and post-splenectomy states. Cabot rings are remnants of the nuclear membrane (pale pink rings, ellipses, or figure-eights in erythrocytes).
