MDS Transformation to Acute Megakaryoblastic Leukemia

A case study of MDS transforming into acute megakaryoblastic leukemia: megakaryoblast morphology in blood and immunophenotyping of the blast population.

❗Female, 66 years old. Megakaryoblasts. Clinical diagnosis: transformation of MDS into acute megakaryoblastic leukemia. 🩸 Peripheral blood, leukocytes WBC- 9.8*10^9/L. Blasts were found in the blood smear. Morphology is presented in the images below. 💡 Immunophenotyping. 70.7% blasts with the phenotype: CD45dim SSCint CD34-/+ CD117+ CD33-/+ CD13+ CD38+ HLA-DR+ CD71+ CD36+ cytCD61+ CD31+ CD7+ cytMPO- cytCD3- cytCD79a- CD19- were detected. 👉 Material kindly provided by clinical laboratory diagnostics physician, pathologist from St. Petersburg Elena Belyakova, Department of Molecular Morphology, E.E.
