🔍 When lymphocytes grow “hairs”: progressive changes in CBC A 53-year-old male patient. When counting the leukocyte differential, 68% of lymphocytes are “hairy cells”: medium-sized; cytoplasm pale, grey-blue, with projections; nuclei round, chromatin structure homogeneous, smooth. Hematologist consultation recommended.
Repeated CBC a month later, with 81% “hairy cells” counted, also anemia, thrombocytopenia, absolute lymphocytosis, and neutropenia.
