Severe Poikilocytosis in Complete Blood Count

A clinical case of mild anemia: severe poikilocytosis, schistocytes, tear-drop cells, and macrothrombocytes in peripheral blood.

In the complete blood count of the examined patient, there is mild anemia with severe poikilocytosis and anisocytosis of erythrocytes (ovalocytes, echinocytes, schistocytes, tear-drop cells, sickle cells, helmet cells; acanthocytes are also present – photo 5). Some platelets are macrothrombocytes, with occasional giant ones (photos 2, 4).
