“Green crystals of death” - critical green inclusions (blue-green inclusions in neutrophil cytoplasm). Described as a derivative of lipofuscin from necrotically damaged hepatocytes. They occur in septic conditions in combination with liver and kidney damage, and acidosis. According to one observation, the presence of these inclusions indicated a 65% mortality rate. Smear from a 42-year-old patient (hemoglobin 56 g/L, WBC 13.5 thousand/µL) as part of external quality control. Septicemia. Bacteria in neutrophil cytoplasm, Döhle bodies, toxic granulation.
