Eosinophil dysplasia in a peripheral blood smear.

The nucleus is irregularly oval, unsegmented, pseudo-Pelger type, with markedly condensed chromatin.

The agranular part of the cytoplasm retains weak basophilia, indicating impaired maturation and retention of ribosomes.

The presence of individual mature neutrophils with pseudo-Pelger-Huët homozygous type hyposegmentation (red arrows) and hypercondensed chromatin, without other dysplastic features, is noted (images B and C).

🧐 NEUTROPHIL hyposegmentation

Chromatin is mature, one could even say overmature. In this case, the nuclei are more often round or bean-shaped, which can be mistakenly interpreted as a myelocyte/metamyelocyte. ☝🏻BUT in fact, it is a mature cell.
