🔬 Vaginal smear: “Clue cells” + many leukocytes

Usually, in bacterial vaginosis, there are few leukocytes. But if there are many:
⚠ most likely, it’s not pure bacterial vaginosis, but a mixed infection — for example, with trichomonads, chlamydia, or fungi. Another reason: an incorrectly collected smear — if the sample is taken from the cervix or during menstruation, there may be more leukocytes.

Microscopy of a Smear for Flora: Squamous Epithelium and Flora

🤗 “Hugs”

Woman, 29 years old.
Last menstruation was 7 days ago.
Staining method: Romanowsky.
✅ Cytological conclusion: Against a background of bacterial vaginosis, changes in multilayered squamous epithelial cells were found, including koilocytic atypia. Cells with high-grade intraepithelial neoplasia (HSIL), suspicious for squamous cell carcinoma, were detected. Glandular epithelium with mild atypia is also present.
Further examination and specialist consultation are recommended to clarify the diagnosis and choose the optimal management strategy.

Clue Cells in Vaginal Smear: Microscopic Examination

Female vaginal smear. 🔍 “Clue cells” 🔬👩🏻‍🔬

✅These microorganisms are found in the human vagina, especially in combination with Gardnerella vaginalis in cases of bacterial vaginosis.
✅Mobiluncus is a genus of Gram-positive anaerobic rod-shaped bacteria. These bacteria can be stained as Gram-negative or Gram-variable. However, they are classified as Gram-positive rods due to having a Gram-positive cell wall, lacking endotoxin, and being susceptible to vancomycin, erythromycin, and ampicillin, but resistant to colistin.
💎Look for a video recording of microscopy with these bacteria from the vagina in the private library LAB-TESTS↗ (Screenshots from the video are photos 2-4 in the post carousel). FEMALE GENITAL SMEARS (microscopy) → video → Video recording: “Gynecology. Bacterial vaginosis. Mobiluncus spp.”. There you will also find over 70 other video recordings of microscopy of urogenital smears for flora in women.
