A 64-year-old patient is being examined for anemia; peripheral hemoglobin level is 74 g/L, erythrocytes 3.57, leukocytes 11.23, absolute platelet count 374 thou/µL; bone marrow aspirate shows slightly increased cellularity, 3% plasma cells, clusters of mature platelets are observed, and exclusion of an oncological process is recommended as part of the diagnostic workup.
