The variety of morphological variants of Sézary cells is impressive.

This year, we have already diagnosed nine cases of mycosis fungoides and Sézary syndrome, and in each patient, Sézary cells had different morphology. Nevertheless, it can be noted that the chromatin invariably remained clumpy, nucleoli were absent, and there was an overlap of nuclear contours.

Sézary syndrome is a cutaneous T-cell lymphoma characterized by lymphadenopathy, erythroderma, and the presence of neoplastic T-lymphocytes with “cerebriform” nuclei (Sézary cells) in the peripheral blood and bone marrow. The nuclei occupy most of the cell, are heterogeneous, with a convoluted chromatin structure, and usually lack nucleoli.
